Congratulations! With Exirio you have now access to a tool that will help you track, visualize and understand your investments with ease, whatever the asset or the currency. You can upload your investment-related documents if you wish, to safekeep in single place all information relating to your wealth. And for your peace of mind, you can opt to give emergency access to your partner or spouse, or edit and view access to any third party you choose, an independent advisor or a financial institution.
In this post we will show you how to get started with your new Exirio account, presenting some of the basic functionalities of our App. Please note that we release new versions and updates all the time, so the screenshots in this post may be slightly different from the current version of the app you are using.
Get started
Once you have confirmed your registration, you will be prompted to choose your Owner Currency.
By that we mean the currency you want Exirio to use to present your wealth to you (this is something you can always change later in your Settings).

You have now reached your Home page, which is probably now just a blank slate…

…so you need to add your first Holding (in Exirio we call Holding any Investment, Cash or Loan).
You can do so manually, or by connecting to one or more Institutions (Banks, Brokers or Crypto) you hold accounts with.
We support some 13,000 connections worldwide (mainly in Europe and North America), and by support we mean we are capable of receiving, decoding and assembling data from the third-party providers we work with, which enable the connection with your Institution (Exirio never have access to your login credentials). Our providers develop new connections all the time, and we intend to expand the number of relationships too, to allow more and more Users to enjoy the full extent of Exirio’s benefits.

If you don’t want to connect your accounts or you cannot find your Institution, adding Holdings manually is a reliable alternative. You can upload your Transactions manually or in bulk with a csv file and Exirio will do the rest: we continuously update the prices of all public securities and foreign exchange rates, and recalculate your performance metrics accordingly. And you can automate many Transactions, reducing the need for manual intervention: from recurring rental income and utility payments, to monthly interest and capital repayments for your mortgage.
Asset classes and Asset types
Investments can be sliced and diced in a myriad of ways, and the way we have defined Asset Classes and Types at Exirio aims at being as rigorous as possible, while easy to understand for those Users that are less versed in finance.

All Asset classes are broken down in different types, specific to the respective class.
Before digging deeper into Transactions, Valuations and Metrics (which I will dedicate another post to), let’s look for a moment at your Settings page.
Your Settings

This is where you manage your account: you can change the Owner currency at any time, download your data, manage your subscription (you can upgrade to Premium or choose to continue with a free Starter account or – and we hope note – delete your account), refer friends for free months of Premium subscription, or grant access to your account to third parties.

Third-party access
There are multiple reasons to want to share the details of your investments and wealth. You may want your investment advisor to help you manage your assets through our app, or give view access to a financing institution you may want to borrow money from. And for your serenity, you may want access to be given automatically in case of emergency; to your spouse, partner or another person of trust.

Retirement Planner
Another tool available to you is Exirio’s Retirement Planner: you can play around with the key variables that will determine your net worth at retirement. Your current and target retirement age, your income, your current expenses, inflation, your investment returns: you can tweak each variable to have a good picture of how you can expect your wealth to change over time, to determine the amount you will have by the time you decide it is time to stop working.

More in the next post
This short post hopes to be an helpful tool to get going with a new app, which a times can feel like a daunting task (my home screen is littered with apps I downloaded, never quite understood, and never used again). Exirio was built for individual investors and is the result of the incessant interaction with our Users, who continuously help us tweak and adapt our app to the needs of those it is meant to serve.
In the next post, we will look into the numbers: return metrics, Transactions and Valuations, Premium data.
Stay tuned.
